WOMAN DIVER'S TERROR (ama no senritsu) (1957 JAPAN) D: TOSHIO SHIMURA W: KOZO UCHIDA/EIICHI SAKAKURA/HIROSHI SHIHARA P: MITSUGU OKURA
Michiko Maeda (who gets to sing a song) spends more time in a bikini diving in Shintoho's follow-up to REVENGE OF THE PEARL QUEEN. Her sister (Utako Mitsuya) and friend go missing while on a trip to Tokyo. The friend is found drifting dead off the coast of their fishing village. The sister is tied-up in a cave, at the mercy of dapper hoodlums who want her to dive and rescue treasure from a sunken ship. Eiji Wakasugi is a frankly creepy-looking undercover marine cop handsome lead (wearing too much make-up). Boring b/w programmer should make you glad for the plenitude of proper pornography produced in Japan every month, no longer will horny men have to sit through this type of drivel for the glimpse of a thigh, buttock or breast. With Shigeru Ogura, Shin Shibata, Kyouji Kokonoe, Hiroshi Hayashi, Satoshi Komori, and look for familiar character actor Tatsuo Endo (in his first movie role I think) as an extra. Maeda was retired from the series for the next entry, HITOGUI AMA, which starred Yoko Mihara. It sounds somewhat promising (hitogui means cannibal!), but is currently a lost film, so skip on to GIRL DIVERS OF SPOOK MANSION.
