THE WASP WOMAN (1959 U.S.) D/P: ROGER CORMAN D: JACK HILL (uncredited) W: LEO GORDON/KINTA ZERTUCHE
Susan Cabot (SORORITY GIRL) stars as the head of a once popular cosmetics company with dwindling sales. Scientist Michael Mark comes to her with a serum that can reverse the ageing process, made from wasp enzyme extracts. After testing on animals, Cabot offers herself as a human guinea pig and soon looks noticeably younger. But when Mark is involved in an accident, she has to go without her regular injections. The side-effects of withdrawal are pretty drastic and she becomes a blood-drinking monster with furry head (and pincers), bug-eyes and antennae! Likeable b/w nonsence from Corman, with Bruno Ve Sota as a comic-relief night watchman victim, Frank Gerstle, Anthony Eisley, Roy Gordon, Frank Wolff and Corman himself as a doctor. There's also a reference to DR. CYCLOPS. In 1962, new footage of Mark was added for tv. There was a tv remake in the 90's.
