THE HILLS HAVE EYES (1977 U.S.) D/W: WES CRAVEN P: PETER LOCKE
This one is Craven`s masterpiece, one of the best horror/action films ever made. An all-American family drive their camper into the hills and become the prey for a family of mutant cannibals who steal their baby for food. The family have to turn tables to survive. Breakneck pace, plenty of thrills and chills and a nice sick streak of humour makes sure this one never lets up. James Whitworth is the mutant family dad Jupiter, and Michael Berryman is great in his most famous role as Pluto. With Robert Houston and Dee Wallace-Stone. Craven puts a JAWS poster in the background, so Sam Raimi later put a HILLS poster in his EVIL DEAD. The three would make a brilliant triple-bill. Remade, and there was a sequel.
