THE GOONIES (1985 U.S.) D/P: RICHARD DONNER W: CHRIS COLOMBUS/STEVEN SPIELBERG P: HARVEY BERNHARD
Sean Astin leads a bunch of kids (including Josh Brolin as his older teen brother) to find pirate treasure in an underground booby-trapped network of tunnels and caves (impressive sets), so they can save their Boondocks town from being turned into a country club. Fun for kids, especially since the main characters swear and goof around, just like real kids It also owes a debt to Rube Goldberg`s Mouse Trap-like devices. Anne Ramsey, Joe Pantoliano and opera-singing Robert Davi are mean bank robbers on their tail. With Corey Feldman, Ke Huy Quan, Jeff Cohen as Chunk, Martha Plimpton, Kerri Green (for the dads!), Anne Ramsey, Curtis Hanson and Donner. With clips of Errol Flynn and Cyndi Lauper on tv and a picture of Keenan Wynn. Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy were the Executive Producers.
