TARZAN OF THE APES (1918 U.S.) D: SCOTT SIDNEY W: FRED MILLER/LOIS WEBBER P: BILL PARSONS
It's kind of slow and uneventful to a modern audience, but this one hour b/w silent jungle film was the first ever Tarzan movie, so is historicaly important. Otto Elmo Linkenhelt (aka Elmo Lincoln) is Tarzan. Enid Markey is Jane. It was filmed in Brazil, Louisiana and California and features the age-old tradition of men-in-monkey-suits. Apparently, Lincoln really killed a lion in the scene where it attacks him! With Colin Kenny, Thomas Jefferson and Eugene Pallette. Linkenhelt returned in THE ROMANCE OF TARZAN and the serial THE ADVENTURES OF TARZAN.
