SQUIRM (1976 U.S.) D/W: JEFF LIEBERMAN P: GEORGE MANASSE
A storm causes power lines to fall in Georgia and the rainwater conducts electricity into the ground. This results in big bloodworms (with teeth) to become hostile and attack. They burrow into one guy's face and thousands-upon-thousands turn up in the exciting climax (Rick Baker provides FX). This A.I.P. release (Lieberman's debut) is a classic of it's kind, with great down-south atmosphere. Lieberman made BLUE SUNSHINE the same year. A still from SQUIRM was to be the cover photo for the original never-published Spinegrinder Movie Book, fact fans.
