SPLICE (2009 CANADA FRANCE U.S.) D/W: VINCENZO NATALI W: ANTOINETTE TERRY BRYANT/DOUG TAYLOR P: STEVEN HOBAN
Groundbreaking bio-chemist couple Sarah Polley and Adrien Brody secretly grow a new lifeform (spliced from several different species) in a tank. It grows up to be a humanoid-look creature called Dren (Delphine Chaneac, who`s very good) which they don`t know how to treat. Child or experiment? It inevitably turns into a more familiar creature feature towards the end, but this is still an interesting attempt at doing something with genre material (like Natali`s fogotten CYPHER), and i enjoyed watching it. With Natali regular David Hewlett, and BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN references. Gullermo Del Toro was an Associate Producer.
