SANTO VS. FRANKENSTEIN'S DAUGHTER (santo vs. la hija de frankenstein) (1971 MEXICO) D: MIGUEL M. DELGADO W: FERNANDO OSES P: GUILLERMO CALDERON STELL/SANTO
Masked wrestler El Santo's girlfriend (Anel) is kidnapped by Freda Frankenstein (Gina Romand), the 100+ year-old daughter of you-know-who, who keeps herself (and her aged henchmen) young (and alive) with a special youth serum. This she does to lure Santo to her underground cave lair, because apparently Santo has very special superhuman blood (as Producer, Santo may have insisted on the allusions to his masked handsomeness too). Freda also keeps a NIGHT OF THE BLOODY APES-inspired half-beast (a man injected with gorilla blood) in a cage, and has her own monster in the family tradition, Ursus (both monsters played by veteran Gerardo Zepeda, who was in BLOODY APES). She also uses a hypnowheel, and there's a brief glimpse of cool mummies emitting poisoned gas from their eye sockets. Silly, contrived and not really very good, this fairly charming offering is one of the better in the Santo series (the 30th by my count), with minimum wrestling footage padding (by series standards). With Roberto Canedo, Carlos Agosti, Carlos Suarez, Jorge Casanova, and Carlos Bravo y Fernandez. Santo returned in SUICIDE MISSION the same year.
