RETURN OF THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (texas chainsaw massacre 4; texas chainsaw massacre: the next generation) (1994 U.S.) D/W/P: KIM HENKEL P: ROBERT KUHN
The fourth Texas Chainsaw movie decides to ignore the other sequels and concentrate on the cannibal family's return to active duty in '94. Kind of a remake (including a meathook scene) of the original classic (which Henkel had co-written), but with pointless new sub-plots and situations. Like most 90's movie-teens, the characters here are very annoying. Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey star, and Robert Jacks is a bad Leatherface. Only Marilyn Burns returns from the original in an uncredited bit-part, and that very good industrial/noise music from the original is used at completely inappropriate moments. In 2003 the franchise returned with an official remake of the original.
