I WAS A TEENAGE WEREWOLF (1957 U.S.) D: GENE FOWLER JR. W/P: HERMAN COHEN W: "RALPH THORNTON" (ABEN KANDEL)
Whit Bisell is the real villain in this b/w A.I.P. hit. He's the psychiatrist who hypnotises schoolboy troublemaker Michael Landon, resulting in his transformation into a angst-ridden wolfman whenever the school bell rings. It's pretty mediocre stuff, but hit a chord with American youth (there's rock 'n' roll in it too) so a follow-up (the more fun I WAS A TEENAGE FRANKENSTEIN, also with Bissel) and endless horror/sci-fi/r'n'r cheapies aimed at teens followed. With Yvonne Lime, Guy Williams, Dawn Richard, Vladimir Sokoloff and Cohen. See also HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER. I guess it was remade as TEEN WOLF.
