HEMOGLOBIN (bleeders; the descendant) (1996 CANADA) D: PETER SVATEK W: CHARLES ADAIR/DAN O'BANNON/RONALD SHUSETT P: JULIE ALLAN/PETER KROONENBERG
Roy Dupuis and his wife/nurse (Kristin Lehman) travel to a remote New England island (actually Quebec) to find clues as to why he has a rare blood disease. Turns out that he's the descendant of an inbred aristocratic family now living as midget hermaphrodite mutants in a network of underground tunnels! They steal corpses to eat from the local graveyard. Equal parts H.P. Lovecraft (The Lurking Fear) and C.H.U.D., i'd love to be able to recommend this horror with a cool premise. But unfortunately it's not very good. With Rutger Hauer as a doctor, and Jackie Burroughs. The best part (which is memorable) has the mutants swarming across the surface of the island. It`s better than LURKING FEAR though.
