GANTZ (2010 JAPAN) D: SHINSUKE SATO W: YUSUKE WATANABE P: TADASHI TANAKA/NOBUHIRO IIZUKA
Kennichi Matsuyama and Kazunari Ninomiya (from pop group Arashi) are hit by a subway train, only to wake up alive, locked in an apartment full of strangers. The titular black sphere (with someone inside) supplies them with protective body armour and weapons, and materialises them in different city locations where they must destroy dangerous, bizarre aliens (like Onion Man) within a certain time limit (for points). Between these bouts they wake up back in their normal lives. A full explanation should not be expected this time (it`s "to be continued..." in the shot back-to-back sequel GANTZ: PERFECT ANSWER), so relax and enjoy a different and quite exciting sci-fi actioner with great visual FX (like the giant buddha statue straight out of a Sinbad movie) and bad acting (which kinda suits the material). Natsuna provides the tight PVC-clad eye-candy, with Tomoroh Taguchi, Kanata Hongo, Yuriko Yoshitaka and Takayuki Yamada. Hiroya Oku`s manga was also adapted for the 2004 animated series GANTZ.
