FRANKENSTEIN CREATED WOMAN (1967 U.K.) D: TERENCE FISHER W: ANTHONY HINDS P: ANTHONY NELSON KEYS
After passing on THE EVIL OF FRANKENSTEIN, Fisher returned to the Hammer Frankenstein series with this bizarre, touching (and very good) entry. Peter Cushing has never been better as the Baron, who this time creates a woman (Susan Denberg). What makes this treatment of Mary Shelley`s concept so remarkable is that Cushing manages to capture the soul (a glowing orb) of a recently (wrongfully) executed young man and keeps it in a small room-sized container! Denberg starts killing the people responsible for his death. The ending is downbeat and tragic. With Thorley Walters. The series got more conventional with FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED.
