THE EXORCIST III (1990 U.S.) D/W: WILLIAM PETER BLATTY P: CARTER DE HAVEN
Another ridicilous sequel has original author Blatty shoe-horning ideas from the original into an adaptation of his zodiac killer-inspired book Legion. George C. Scott stars as a cop trying to solve some bizarre, violent muders (nothing is really shown in terms of gore). The trail leads him to a mental asylum (where an old woman scuttles across the roof like a spider). Jason Miller and Brad Dourif both play the talky Gemini killer, but no-one seems to notice how his face changes! The final exorcism scene is ludicrous, as is a lot of this ill-conceived nonsence (but not enough to be entertaining). With Nicol Williamson, Scott Wilson, Viveca Lindfors, Don Gordon, Harry Carey Jr., George DiCenzo, Grand L. Bush, Ken Lerner, Kevin Corrigan. David Dwyer, Larry King, Fabio, a brief pre-stardom appearance from Samuel L. Jackson and the voice of Colleen Dewhurst. A prequel followed.
