DRACULA, PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1965 U.K.) D: TERENCE FISHER W: "JOHN SANSOM" (JIMMY SANGSTER/ANTHONY HINDS) P: ANTHONY NELSON KEYS
Hammer`s follow-up to their hit DRACULA (which opens with the end disintergation scene from that) is atmospheric and entertaining. Lee returns as the Count who has a great, gory resurrection scene, and Peter Cushing is replaced by vampire hunting monk Andrew Keir. It`s one of the few vampire movies that relies on running water (as opposed to a stake through the heart) to do away with Dracula in the memorable end scene. This was filmed back-to-back with RASPUTIN, THE MAD MONK which also starred Lee and shares some cast members and sets. With Barbara Shelley, Charles Tingwell, Thorley Walters, George Woodbridge and Jack Lambert. DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE was the direct sequel.
