DR. STRANGELOVE, OR: HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE BOMB (1963 U.K.) D/W/P: STANLEY KUBRICK W: TERRY SOUTHERN/PETER GEORGE
You may be fed-up of having been duped into watching some of Kubrick`s later over-celebrated so-called "classics", but don`t miss his truly brilliant satire on the politics of war in the age of the A-bomb (based on George`s novel Red Alert). I don`t buy into the theory that Peter Sellers was a comic genius either, but he`s used well here in a triple roll. With Sterling Hayden, Slim Pickens (one of his finest roles), George C. Scott, Keenan Wynn, Peter Bull, James Earl Jones and Shane Rimmer.
