CHATO`S LAND (1972 U.S.) D/P: MICHAEL WINNER W: GERALD WILSON
Before the opening credits roll, Apache Charles Bronson guns down a bigotted Sheriff who was hassling him in a saloon, and rides off into the desert. Jack Palance heads a posse of angry men to hunt him down. Bronson gets real mad after they rape his woman. The European cut of this mostly tedious western has alternate scenes of violence and nudity (nothing worth writing home about). It was shot in Spain, and was the first of several Winner/Bronson collaborations (the next was THE MECHANIC the same year). With Richard Basehart, Simon Oakland, James Whitmore, Ralph Waite, Richard Jordan and Peter Dyneley.
