BLACULA (1972 U.S.) D: WILLIAM CRAIN W: JOAN TORRES/ RAYMOND KOENIG P: JOSEPH T. NAAR
William Marshall is an African ambassador in Transylvania in the 19th century prologue. A racist Count Dracula ridicules his plans to abolish the slave trade and gives him the vampire`s curse. A couple of camp art dealers take Marshall`s coffin to modern day L.A. where he awakes to find the reincarnation of his lost love (cute Vonetta McGee). Thalmus Rasulala is the cop investigating mysterious deaths and Elisha Cook Jr. appears as a coroner with a hook for a hand. Enjoyable little vampire flick. With Denise Nicholas and Gordon Pinsent. SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM followed. Crain also made DR. BLACK, MR. HYDE.
