THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN (1957 U.S.) D/W/P: BERT I. GORDON W: MARK HANNA/GEORGE WORTHINGTON YATES P: JAMES H. NICHOLSON
Glenn Langan is an Army Colonel who survives a plutonim bomb explosion only to grow 60ft. tall in this favourite from Mr. BIG (who got the idea by reversing THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN). The bald, almost naked giant sleeps in a circus tent and wears an expandable sarong. He slowly loses his mind and attacks Las Vegas. The military try to administer an antidote in a huge hypodermic needle, but he falls in the Hoover Dam. With James Seay, Frank Jenks, Russ Bender, Hank Patterson and Edmund Cobb. It`s a classic of oddball cinema, always on the edge of self-parody, but never quite crossing over, creating a fascinating pulp tension. I like when he tries to read a book and use a phone the best! WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST followed.
