A SHOT IN THE DARK (1964 U.K. U.S.) D/W/P: BLAKE EDWARDS W: WILLIAM PETER BLATTY
Elke Sommer and George Sanders are the prime suspects in a murder case in the first sequel to THE PINK PANTHER. It`s considered the best in the series, so if Peter Sellers as bumbling Inspector Clouseau is your idea of fun you might enjoy it more than i did. The only redeeming feature i thought was Herbert Lom, who is funny. Burt Kwouk makes his first appearance as Kato. With Graham Stark, David Lodge, Martin Benson and Reginald Beckwith. It was Blatty`s second screenwriting credit, adapting Marcel Archard and Harry Kumitz`s play L`idiot. THE RETURN OF THE PINK PANTHER was next. But first Alan Arkin got to be INSPECTOR CLOUSEAU.
